Looking at smart components and industry 4.0 solutions with Eaton

The market shifts within industry 4.0 – intelligent factories and smart energy – are challenging companies to offer the seamless integration of varied technologies and disciplines, there’s no doubt about that. Within the fields of machine building and mobile equipment, Eaton has a range of solutions for energy and automation. Optimal industry applications are being enabled through the power management company’s network of solution partners.

Eaton will be showcasing at Hannover Messe in hall 21 on stand B15 or in hall 11 on stand C71, where customers can learn more about the added value of a holistic approach to fully integrated industrial technologies that Eaton and its solution partners provide for machinery and plants.

For the latest news on Eaton’s hydraulic and filtration divisions, the stand is where you can find developments in hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems and smart components, which have developed a solid reputation for high power density, energy efficiency and improved maintenance need, will be highlighted.

Visitors can learn how to improve energy efficiency, performance in the field, integrate digital connectivity, and decrease maintenance needs with a higher performing new generation of power management and fluid conveyance products.Eaton`s smart components, with the addition of digital connectivity, are facilitating integration across the control and production layers, helping to pave the way for a new era in manufacturing characterised by intelligent, self-optimising and autonomous processes.

Eaton’s next generation of fluid conveyance products are helping customers in their quest to increase productivity and are decreasing the need for maintenance. In addition, Eaton offers a new generation of products that help deliver optimal performance and higher working pressure, as the market is moving towards more powerful and compact solutions.

Customers can learn how Eaton is enabling customers to address this market need through its new product introductions such as the redesigned FF-series quick disconnect couplings. This new series is helping customers match the demand for high pressure and high flow rates in smaller sizes. Eaton’s flat face quick-disconnect couplings portfolio features an enhanced flow rate of up to 25% and a high performing pressure rate of up to 400 bars to maximise machine performance in the most demanding applications. The renewed FF-series quick-disconnect couplings help reduce significantly pressure drop and energy loss.

The need for more effective, lower maintenance machines is constantly increasing - and improved component life and durability can be a key factor to support it.  Eaton will be showing its all-new Aeroquip GH681 and Dynamax EC881 hydraulic hose ranges, new high performing one and two wire-braided hoses qualified to 1 Million impulse cycles.

Standard EN857 Type 1SC hoses are qualified up to 200,000 impulse cycles. The Aeroquip GH681 and Dynamax EC881 exceed this standard by five times. The hoses feature a DURA-TUFF cover that enhances the abrasion resistance - one of the main causes of hose failures.

Visitors to the Eaton stand will also be able to see the Walterscheid M-R7, an innovative pre-assembly machine that provides customers with improved assembly and safety during the installation of the Walterscheid system trilogy tube fitting systems with prefabricated tube ends. The solution is designed for controlled final assembly of Eaton’s Walterscheid cutting ring systems WALPRO and WALRING, and optimises performance through short tightening movements and reducing required force during final assembly.

Energy efficiency is still a focus for all businesses worldwide, and Eaton will be displaying a new vane pump at Hannover Messe that combines the best features of Vane pumps with 0RMP low speed capable architecture to support efficiency and energy saving. At Hannover Messe, Eaton will be showcasing its new VSQ (Vane-Speed-Quiet) pump series designed to provide operators with a minimum speed range of 0-50RPM while offering high-end speed and high-pressure operations up to 290 bars.

The new VSQ vane pumps combine the features of vane pumps with zero RMP low speed capable architecture to support efficiency and energy saving. Combined with high speed and high operating pressure features, this pump offers an efficient alternative over internal gear and piston pumps for industrial applications. These pumps combine high efficiency with low noise characteristics making them an excellent for variable speed drive applications. The performance and power density of Eaton vane pump families, combined with the smart control of Eaton variable speed drives, enable these systems to achieve power more efficiently than conventional constant-speed drive pump systems.

Effectiveness in the design phase is key, and manufacturers are making efforts to optimise operation with performance.  The stand will also be featuring Eaton’s Xcel series low speed high torque disc valve motors designed for low and medium duty applications in order to optimise performance in combination with value and reliability.

The Xcel motors’ three-zone design allows bi-directional resistance to pressure spikes that result in extended motor life. The motor’s easy-to-design-in features and size make its solution for applications with generic design needs.
