Secure, fast-fit distribution boxes from Spelsberg are ideal for Autometers Systems electricity meters
Electricity meters and power management systems play an important role in monitoring the efficiency of most buildings; from residential homes to large industrial units. Autometer Systems, a UK manufacturer whose systems are found in buildings of all sizes around the world, uses Spelsberg’s tough AK range of distribution boxes to provide secure housing which protects its products from the elements, while also providing quick access for installation and monitoring purposes.
Autometers Systems is a UK based manufacturer of electricity meters and power management systems, ranging from single and polyphase; to electro-mechanical kWh meters; to fully programmable online information centre systems. Its systems are used by switchboard manufacturers and electricity supply companies around the world and are distributed by most leading wholesalers. The company is extremely proactive in developing new products and bases its design philosophy around creating innovative yet simple systems which are effective, reliable and easy to install and monitor.

Reg Diggins, Company Director of Autometer Systems comments: “Our systems can be found in all types of applications all the way up to remote monitoring of energy use in an industrial manufacturing environment. It’s important that installation is made simple and that, once fitted, our systems operate reliably throughout their life. As our systems can often be located in damp areas, or areas with varying temperatures, it’s vital that we offer housings with suitable protection. We’ve found that the distribution boxes from Spelsberg mirror our design philosophy, this is why we specify its AK range as standard.”

Spelsberg is Europe’s largest manufacturer of non-metallic electrical enclosures and is the biggest ex-stock supplier to the UK market. Its range of AK distribution boxes is designed to provide up to IP65 ingress protection while offering superior wiring space to improve the speed of installation. The enclosures are available in tough polystyrene or polycarbonate and feature an external transparent door which provides easy access to the contents once installed. The units are available in range of sizes and are available with up to 58 entry points per box – entry options include flexible membrane, knock-outs or pre-drilled entries for cable glands.

Reg continues: “The AK range from Spelsberg ticks all the boxes in terms of our requirements. There are a range of sizes available which offer optimised installation space while maintaining a compact footprint and, unlike many enclosures with easy access external doors, the AK still provides a high IP rating. This helps us to realise our design goals of reliability and simplicity. To top it all off, the enclosures have an extremely high-quality finish which enhances the overall aesthetics of our range.

“Spelsberg is an extremely flexible company in terms of short delivery lead times and customisation of the product which gives us the confidence to use them as our sole supplier.”
