New solution for distribution as rental fleet extended

Expanding the fleet of products available through its IDE Rental service, IDE Systems have added the new mains distribution unit, the MD63. The product is a power distribution unit for temporary electrical installations, such as those in the event industry, and is housed in a high density polyethylene enclosure to ensure resistance to impact and the elements.

The MD63’s polyethylene enclosure is designed to provide consistent performance and safety, with recessed socket and switchgear panels for mechanical protection and Ingress Protection (IP) rated sockets that protect against dust and splashes of water. Each outlet of the unit also features a red power light, allowing electrical contractors and event staff to easily identify whether an outlet is live.

The MD63 has fifteen output sockets to accommodate the large number of electrical applications that are now used at events. These include six 16A three-pin sockets, six 32A three-pin and three 32A five-pin sockets, allowing event staff to power a variety of electrical equipment and installations from one unit.

“In recent years, we have seen the events sector become increasingly reliant on effective electrical infrastructure,” explained Stuart Barnett, Rental Manager at IDE Rental. “Whether it’s because of more elaborate stage setups or the growing number of on-site vendors, each event now has more intensive electrical requirements than ever before. It is therefore important that power is distributed effectively to every application, which requires versatile distribution units with a large number of output sockets.

“Due to output capacity being at a premium during the set up process, electrical overloading poses a significant challenge to event organisers. As such, distribution equipment must effectively and reliably facilitate demand.

“The MD63 was designed to help electrical contractors affordably handle this high output demand. Instead of having to invest in multiple units, contractors can rent a single MD63 and accommodate up to 15 applications. This reduces the overall equipment cost and makes the installation process simpler.”

To further simplify installation of the unit, the enclosure has integrated lifting handles and rails for easier handling. This allows contractors to quickly and easily stack units during set up, as well as reduce the time taken to pack up equipment after the event ends.

The MD63 is available in single-phase and three-phase models to suit application requirements.
