SSI interface in JVL integrated QuickStep motorsThe firmware of JVL's QuickStep motors has been extended with yet another function: an SSI encoder interface. It is thus possible to integrate absolute encoder functions in the QuickStep integrated stepper motors and in the stepper motor controller SMC75. Typically, absolute-encoders are used when there is a need to continue operation immediately after power is re-applied to a machine or system — without first having to perform a zero-search reset. Another major reason for using absolute encoders is to correct motor position in relation to the actual physical absolute position measured by the SSI encoder.
Stepper motor controller from JVLJVL presents a step motor controller with RS485 and CANbus serial interface. 8 IO´s can be configured as inputs, outputs, or analogue input that can be controlled via a nanoPLC and MacTalk graphic programming. The very compact 57x57mm PCB contains everything required to solve a modern control task either as a stand-alone controller or controlled from a PLC or PC via serial commands or IO. MODBUS RTU and CANopen give the possibility for easy and fast connection to a PLC. For PC or IPC an ActiveX/OCX driver is available for simple interfacing to LABview, Excel, VB or other Windows programs. The SMC75 uses the same protocol as the MAC motors and can therefore be connected to the same RS485 bus system.
The new QuickStep motors from JVLJVL has now launched its newest product: 'QuickStep' — the integrated step motor. QuickStep will be available in 2 models. The first to reach the market is a model with pulse and direction inputs. The second model will have a position controller with a serial interface, 8 IO´s, and an optional encoder and CANbus interface.

The Pulse/Direction model of QuickStep was introduced some time ago with great success. This has now been supplemented with the introduction of a QuickStep model which provides a position controller, PLC facilities and a serial interface with optional encoder and CANopen interface. All electronics are integrated into the motor itself, providing a very compact and complete unit. This minimises cabling costs since machine sensors can be connected directly to the motor. Control cabinets can often be either totally redundant or significantly reduced in size.

DeviceNet Expansion Module for JVL´s integrated MAC motorsJVL has developed a new module for the MAC50-141 and MAC800 series of integrated servo motors that enables the MAC motors to be used on Devicenet. The AC-servo motor, encoder, amplifier, positional controller and Devicenet are all built into the motor. The only connections required are a supply voltage and the Devicenet cables. The device type is a "Position controller", which is a standard method for controlling position when motion control is used on Devicenet.
