There has been no standard to certify non-electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres except the European EN 13463 series, until the ISO 80079-36 and ISO 80079-37 were introduced that is. This meant certification was only applicable in areas of the world that accepted ATEX documentation.

  SGS Tool Europe will launch its next-gen Z-Carb High Performance tools at EMO, Milan, from 5th to 10th October 2015. The range of Z-Carb HPR five-flute roughing end mills are suited to aggressive high speed roughing and finishing machining applications.

Edgecam’s 5-axis capability and Waveform advanced machining functionality have been demonstrated at SGS Tool Europe’s headquarters and manufacturing facility in Wokingham.

SGS Tool Europe has recently appointed Hugh Welch as Manufacturing Manager, responsible for the efficient flow of the company’s high performance cutting tools, through the precision production facility located in its European headquarters in Wokingham. He brings with him a wealth of production management, engineering knowledge and experience gained in a solid carbide cutting tool manufacturing environment.

Receiving its European launch at the Advanced Engineering 2014 show, SGS Carbide Tool (Stand D24) will unveil a new Plastic Composite Router (PCR). Adding to the company’s high performance range, the new Series 29 PCR comprehensive product line is specifically designed for machine routing glass reinforced composite materials, such as fibreglass and G10 epoxy fibreglass laminate, glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) or glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP), as well as most other common plastic and non-metallic materials.

Located in the Tooling & Workholding Pavilion at IMTS 2014, SGS will be showcasing the latest equipment and cutting tool technology. On the stand, the company will be machining stainless steel, composite materials, titanium and aluminium with an impressive line-up of new and featured tools. These include the Series 33 for stainless steel applications; diamond coated end mills, drills, routers for composites; T-Carb for titanium machining; and, S-Carb APR for high efficiency aluminium machining.

Mark Crane has recently been appointed to an important new customer supporting role by SGS Carbide Tool (UK), as NC Technical Support he will work with the staff at the company’s Technical Centre to provide full NC programming services. He adds a wealth of machining knowledge and experience gained in the aerospace and heavy engineering industry sectors.

Although Delcam is renowned for its advanced CAD/CAM software, the company also operates an extremely well equipped machine shop. Here, the very latest CNC machine tools are pushed to their limits, providing an opportunity to test software developments and machine actual components for customers around the world. While SGS solid carbide cutting tools are used extensively for component machining, they are also raising the benchmark for Delcam’s new cutting strategies.

SGS Tool Company has added a new series of Roughing End Mills to its S-Carb product line in support of the company’s on-going commitment to provide high performance cutting solutions. The new Series 43 Chip Breaker delivers load reduction and offers superior chip management during aggressive aluminium and non-ferrous machining.

On the 22nd January 2013, more than 130 visitors attended the official inauguration of SGS Carbide Tools’ new UK manufacturing facility and European headquarters in Wokingham, Berkshire. In front of all the guests, including the Mayor of Wokingham, Councillor Bob Wyatt, a ceremonial plaque marking the occasion was officially unveiled by former land speed record holder, Richard Noble, OBE.

Following a successful show in 2012, SGS Carbide Tool will exhibit again at JEC Europe Composites Show and Conference (Stand M44). This year the solid carbide cutting tool specialist will display its recently expanded range of composite cutting tools. The company will also launch its new Composite Tools brochure at the event, and the new 20-page brochure will be available to visitors in both English and French.
