ISO standards for non-electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres

There has been no standard to certify non-electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres except the European EN 13463 series, until the ISO 80079-36 and ISO 80079-37 were introduced that is. This meant certification was only applicable in areas of the world that accepted ATEX documentation.

Receiving its European launch at the Advanced Engineering 2014 show, SGS Carbide Tool (Stand D24) will unveil a new Plastic Composite Router (PCR). Adding to the company’s high performance range, the new Series 29 PCR comprehensive product line is specifically designed for machine routing glass reinforced composite materials, such as fibreglass and G10 epoxy fibreglass laminate, glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) or glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP), as well as most other common plastic and non-metallic materials.

Located in the Tooling & Workholding Pavilion at IMTS 2014, SGS will be showcasing the latest equipment and cutting tool technology. On the 22nd January 2013, more than 130 visitors attended the official inauguration of SGS Carbide Tools’ new UK manufacturing facility and European headquarters in Wokingham, Berkshire. In front of all the guests, including the Mayor of Wokingham, Councillor Bob Wyatt, a ceremonial plaque marking the occasion was officially unveiled by former land speed record holder, Richard Noble, OBE.
