As International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2018 looms just around the corner lets remind ourselves that the theme is to raise the bar. However, perhaps it's time to use this bar to quash a few misconceptions instead, well that is what Emma Cygan, Design and Development engineer at steering system supplier Pailton Engineering, believes and encourages us all to do.  

Launching a next-generation of bevel boxes for commercial vehicles, Coventry-based system specialist, Pailton Engineering is developing this generation, three design, as a step up from previous generations, with reduced torque characteristics and upgraded sealing capabilities. As this bevel box is equipped to handle extreme conditions, this product launch will benefit the military, bus, coach and construction sectors, which all rely on robust steering systems.  

Investing £300k in a specialised Mazak machine, Pailton Engineering aims to add a new layer of automation to its factory floor. Instead of simply purchasing upgrades of the existing machines, the company has strategically modernised, all by specifying a machine that will enhance the company’s capability and efficiency. This investment enables a more cost effective production process with reduced waste that will support the company’s future growth and product range expansion.

Coventry based commercial vehicle steering system specialist Pailton Engineering has successfully completed its BSI Stage 2 audit and gained official certification to TS 16949:2009. This is the culmination of a journey over several years, with Stage 1 being successfully completed in April of this year.

Pailton Engineering has won a contract to produced parts for the first 3 prototypes of KADDB 4x4 Light Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle project. The company is supplying steering columns, sliders and suspension joints for a KADDB 4x4 LTATV designed and developed by KADDB and exclusively designed to meet the specific defence capabilities of Jordan Armed Forces.

Pailton Engineering has appointed Geoffrey Robinson MP as a non-executive director to help the company achieve an ambitious five-year expansion plan. Mr Robinson is joining the board at a critical time in Pailton’s history: the award-winning company plans to double its turnover from £19 million to £40 million by 2016 and further reinforce its position as a truly global brand.

Pailton GmbH, part of the UK-based Pailton Engineering group, has won a contract with AGCO Netherlands to supply parts which are vital to the industry-leading boom stability of a new crop sprayer. The contract worth €20,000 (£16,600) a year is for the manufacture of track rods, including ball joints, for AGCO’s all new Challenger-branded Rogator 600 crop sprayer.
