At this year’s Hannover Messe in Germany, bearing manufacturer NKE Austria, will present bearings with black oxide finish. The protective layer improves run-in and wear characteristics and protects against environmental effects. Especially in critical applications such as wind turbine gear boxes, black oxide finish is a cost-effective and technically viable means of prolonging the service life and performance of rolling bearings.

Bearing manufacturer NKE Austria has been part of the Fersa Group since January 2016, which was established through the merger of Spanish company Fersa Bearings and NKE Austria, who are both are internationally active in the development, production and sales of bearings for the global automotive and industrial markets, with Fersa covering the automotive and NKE the industrial sector. Thomas Witzler (pictured below), General Manager of NKE here talks about the strategic outlook and plans of the Austrian company in the coming years.

Bearing manufacturer, NKE Austria, will present bearings for agricultural machinery and for appliances for working ground and pasture land at Agritechnica 2017 in Hannover, Germany. Especially for tillage implements, NKE offers application-specific, preassembled, ready to use bearing units. The robust bearing units designated Agri Units are designed for use in agricultural machines that require a rotating union between a disc-shaped tool and its mounting arm.

  NKE will exhibit standard and special bearings for demanding applications such as mechanical and electrical drive systems, pumps and compressors as well as agricultural machinery, at Motion, Drive & Automation 2017 in Hannover, Germany.

NKE introduced cages for rolling bearings that are optimized for unfavourable operating conditions. Coated with DLC (diamond-like carbon), the new steel cages are both more resilient and durable than comparable brass cage designs. Two application examples have been chosen to highlight the advantages of the new cages and demonstrate the transition from prototype to series-produced niche product.

Rolling bearings for industrial gearboxes that meet the efficiency and reliability requirements of a wide range of sectors, are now available from NKE Austria. The bearings are meet the equirements of a wide range of sectors, such as general machinery, mining, material handling systems and heavy machinery. 

NKE Austria has finished the commissioning of a new test rig for medium sized rolling bearings. To illustrate the size of the test setup, Austrian bearing manufacturer NKE exhibited the test rig’s shaft complete with test bearings at this year’s Hannover Fair, before installing it in the new test rig.

This year at the Motion, Drive and Automation trade fair in Hannover, NKE Austria GmbH will exhibit rolling bearings for industrial gearboxes in various applications. Bearings from NKE are used for example in plant construction, materials handling, in rail vehicles, metal production and processing, mining, heavy machinery, and in the special application of wind energy systems.

For bearings and metal parts that are exposed directly to humid or corrosive environments, NKE Austria GmbH offers a special galvanic coating that provides cost effective protection against corrosion. The new and improved coating SQ171E is even thinner and provides longer-lasting protection against corrosion than the previous version.

Bearing specialist NKE Austria has published its new General Catalogue. With more than 1000 pages the fifth edition of the bearings catalogue contains comprehensive information in both English and German for industrial distributors as well as engineers and designers. The catalogue is available free of charge in print form or as a download.

Bearing specialist NKE Austria GmbH has supplied a special cylindrical roller bearing with an outer diameter of 3.3 m for the application in a three-roller planetary rolling mill.

Bearing manufacturer NKE Austria offers electrically insulated rolling bearings. The special bearings SQ77 feature a built-in electrical insulation, which provides reliable protection against current discharge and the resulting electrical corrosion. Typical applications of electrically insulated rolling bearings are electric motors, generators and other electrical machines.

Austrian bearing manufacturer NKE is presenting its range of ready-to-mount bearing units at this year’s international Motek, international fair for assembly and handling technology and automation in Stuttgart, Germany. The bearing units, which consist of a bearing fitted in a cast or pressed housing, offer simple, reliable and cost-effective bearing solutions for material handling systems such as conveyors. They are also used in heavy and agricultural machinery as well as in the steel industry. The housings of the bearing units are made from cast iron or pressed sheet steel and can be combined with a range of different bearing inserts. Having a high stiffness, cast iron housings are resistant against deformation and can therefore absorb moderate to high loads. For applications with lower loads, galvanised pressed sheet steel housings are available. These have a much lower weight than their cast counterparts and are exceptionally easy to install.

Austrian bearing specialist NKE introduces modular bearing systems for planetary gears in wind turbine gearboxes. The new bearing assemblies offer the advantages of a standardisation of the bearings used in this application, a reduced diversity of parts and simplified logistics.

Despite the recession, Steyr-based bearing manufacturer NKE Austria GmbH achieved positive annual results in 2009. With sales of 43.8 million euros, NKE’s turnover was up one percent over the record year 2008. Wind energy represented an important growth sector, and the biggest growth market was China.

Austrian bearing manufacturer NKE AUSTRIA GmbH has again passed the ISO audit in November 2009. Recertified to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management and ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management, NKE is now, for the first time, also certified for Safety and Health Protection Management according to OHSAS 18001.

Bearing manufacturer NKE AUSTRIA GmbH introduces the NNF series of double row full complement cylindrical roller bearings. This series of bearings features a compact design and maximum load carrying capacity. The bearings are sealed on both sides and suitable for extreme operating conditions. Typical applications for NNF bearings are rope wheels and pulleys.

The bearing manufacturer NKE AUSTRIA opens its first sales office in China. The objective of the representative office in Shanghai is to improve the service to OEM customers in important segments as well as to establish a nationwide distribution network. The office will be headed by Hansen Mao, who has many years of experience in the bearing industry.

Bearing manufacturer NKE AUSTRIA GmbH completed and moved into its new headquarters in the industrial park Stadtgut Steyr in June 2009. More than fifteen million euro have been invested in the new works with a floor space of more than 10,000 square metres.

SeaGen, the world’s first commercial tidal current turbine in Northern Ireland’s Strangford Lough, runs with bearings from NKE Austria.
