Compact ring drive systems from Nexen are used in industrial rotary applications where high positional accuracy and dynamic performance are required. The custom rotary indexer CRD350 was developed jointly with the metrology specialist Mahr for a French automotive manufacturer.

Nexen Group has announced the release of the ZSE brake family, zero-backlash spring engaged brakes. Suitable for holding applications, the pneumatically-released ZSE brake offers high torque, high speed and zero backlash. Unlike brakes using leaf springs to transmit torque, the ZSE brake is zero-backlash up to 100% of its rated holding torque.

The release of the Zero-Backlash Spring Engaged (ZSE) brake family has been announced by Nexen Group. The pneumatically-released ZSE offers high torque, high speed, and zero backlash suitable for holding applications. Unlike brakes using leaf springs to transmit torque, the ZSE is zero-backlash up to 100% of its rated holding torque.

Nexen Group has announced the new patent pending CRD 250B, which is an expansion of the company’s innovative Compact Ring Drive (CRD) system. The 250B includes a built-in zero backlash locking/brake design that delivers twice the nominal torque without increasing the CRD footprint. It is extraordinarily durable, with a brake life of 1 million cycles, and requires little to no maintenance.

  A new indexer brake has been introduced by Nexen Group, the model I-300.The spring engaged, air released, power-off brake provides high torque for backlash-free holding and emergency stopping on indexers and positioning systems.

Michigan-based company Lumco Manufacturing, designs, builds and integrates automation and special machine equipment for the automotive, agricultural, gas and oil, energy and aerospace industries. Recently, Lumco custom-built a single-spindle multi-station aluminium drilling and rotobroaching machine to be used to manufacture components of a construction industry aluminium brake.

  Complete geared bearing solutions have been introduced by Nexen Group, based on their innovative Roller Pinion System (RPS). The new Geared Bearing package comes complete with a zero backlash gear mounted and dialed in on a precision grade high capacity bearing.

  A stainless steel version of the patented precision roller pinion system RPS has been introduced by Nexen Group. The RPS engages two teeth simultaneously to achieve accuracy with zero backlash at any length. The system is quiet and efficient.

  A spring engaged, air released, power-off brake has been introduced by Nexen Group, the Model I-300, designed to provide high torque for backlash-free holding and emergency stopping on indexers and positioning systems.

With precision grade bearing and drive mechanism in a sealed housing, Nexen Group has introduced the Compact Ring Drive system (CRD). Freely programmable, the three-drive design configurations allow the CRD to be optimised for high speed, high torque or both, depending on the application.

This series consists of more than 45 clutches in multiple bore sizes designed to provide high torque in a small package, and configured to drive/hold large loads. Nexen Group presents Eclipse servo motor brakes. These new brakes offer distinct advantages over spring-engaged, electrically-released brakes. With Nexen’s servo motor brake, no energy is consumed when the brake is disengaged, while electrically-released brakes consume power continuously, even in disengaged mode, creating heat inside the brake, which detracts from its ability to produce full torque. The Eclipse motor brake is spring-engaged/air-released to keep the brake cool until it’s needed, eliminating the need for electric coil.

An alternative to traditional metal racks, the new thermoplastic Versa Rack delivers high corrosion resistance and durability, low maintenance requirements, medium accuracy and load-carrying capacity at a relatively low cost point.

Nexen’s Generation II Rail Brakes provide fast engagement at 0.049 to 0.230 seconds, higher static holding force to 3,400 N (764 lbs.) and can be combined to provide even higher holding forces as needed. They offer maintenance-free operation and are fully compatible with all 16 major rail manufacturers including Lintec, NB PMI Rockford and SBC Rail, making them an ideal redundant, spring set braking system for a wide range of OEM and after market applications.

Available in a wide range of sizes from 15 to 45, they provide fast engagement at 0.049 to 0.080 seconds, high static holding force to 2,600 N (585 lbs) and can be combined to provide higher holding forces as needed. They offer maintenance-free operation and are fully compatible with most guide rail manufacturers including THK, NSK, IKO, Hwin, INA, SKF, Star and Schneeberger. As a result, they are an ideal redundant safety system in a wide range of OEM and after market applications. 

Nexen Group, Inc. introduces the Versa thermoplastic rack –an alternative to traditional metal racks that delivers high corrosion resistance and durability, low maintenance requirements, medium accuracy and load-carrying capacity at a relatively low cost point. The Versa Rack is ideal for applications such as CNC routers and conveyers, as well as many picking, part-marking and gantry-based automation systems. (CNC routers are typically used for cutting wood, composites and plastic, which can generate large volumes of chips that can interfere with the lubrication of steel racks.)

RB Series brakes deliver the highest spring engaged/air released holding force on the market, providing secure holding and fast response time for a broad range of linear motion control applications. Each rail brake clamps directly onto the center of the guide rail to provide positive braking and holding on all axes, with no effect on the bearing surfaces.
