Livingston has further underlined its commitment to continued innovation by adding Anritsu’s all-in-one optical network field tester to its expansive portfolio of rental products. The recently released MT1000A Network Master Pro is a compact, highly portable device that is optimised for carrying out comprehensive field testing on optical transport network (OTN) infrastructure. It can deal with the multiple communications protocols now being incorporated into modern telecommunications technology. When accompanied by Anritsu’s MU100010A multi-rate module, it has the capacity necessary for testing 10Gbit/s network protocols, such as 10G Ethernet and Fibre Channel, as well as SDH/SONET. It also supports the latest OTN functions, such as ODU0 and ODUflex, plus legacy PDH and DSn interfaces. 

Livingston has further expanded the portfolio of advanced fibre splicing equipment it can offer to its customer base, with new fusion splicers from leading manufacturer Fujikura. These units will be available throughout the company’s international supply network via various flexible rental packages which maximise cost-effectiveness. A rental approach is particular attractive for fibre optic installers, as most are self-employed. It reduces downtime to zero as replacement equipment can be sourced while repair/maintenance is being carried out. This means there is no break in the service they can provide. It takes into account fluctuations in business activity, as equipment only needs to be rented during periods where it will generate income.

Europe’s leading test equipment sourcing firm Livingston has recruited Mike McHale into its executive management line up. Highly experienced, McHale has notched up 25 years working within the high tech and test and measurement industry - in direct sales, channel sales, business development and senior sales management roles. Taking up the post of International Sales Director, he will look to strengthen relationships with Livingston’s existing client base as well as identifying new sales opportunities around the world.
