While many installations of sealing gasket profiles fit the pattern of a common design, such as enclosure door seals, EMKA aims to be able to see from a quick glance, typical applications that often new sections are needed to fit new equipment designs.

A spring steel spine on a P section gasket is a simple, effective way to provide an excellent gasket function for enclosure and vehicle doors. To date this has been achieved with an EPDM bubble sealing profile attached to a PVC spring carrier, however now EMKA have developed an integral section which combines both in one EPDM moulding.

According to the standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, it confirms the capability of EMKA as a world market leader for locking devices, hinges and seals in the performance of material, life cycle and environmental simulation tests.

As a long-time partner of the train and transport industry, EMKA is constantly working on new and innovative locking developments like their IP65 Stainless Steel Safety Latch Lock with red/green visual position indicator. This flush mounted unit is tamper and vibration proof for rear mounting on doors of 5mm thickness where fully flush appearance is required, otherwise a slight inset or upstand is presented.

EMKA’s new catalogue of Ingenious Locking Technology for the Railroad Industry includes many new approaches to the specific needs of rail installers. The Program 1057 flush mounting quarter-turn latch is one such item. Designed for rear fitting to door panels of 3.5-21mm thickness and to present a very neat flush and vandal-resistant face, this lock is partnered with its sister Program 1000 IP65 stainless steel compression latch for mounting in the same way.

With cabinet hardware under the banner 'Everything but the Enclosure', EMKA provide high quality niche components, however its latest ingenious locking technology products for HVACR systems fulfils expectations in this respect. EMKA offer in particular their advanced crossover compression latch/hinge which manages to combine both functions on the one product – so enabling L or R opening or complete panel removal, with the added safety of pressure relief and the added performance of a 5mm gasket compression feature. 

EMKA have announced a single and multi-factor authentication for linked front and back cabinet doors in data storage environments. The ‘at the handle’ db BioLock fingerprint authentication can be used on its own for biometric level security or may be coupled with other components to incorporate keycard, RFID, smartcard and/or PIN inputs to provide seamless access control across a complete enterprise.

Vibration and tampering are both addressed with the new Program 1000 stainless steel compression latch from EMKA for use in railway applications. This IP65 latch offers a high degree of vandal-resistance by virtue of its tube key mechanism requiring a special internally profiled key to open/close and to operate the 6mm gasket compression featured by turning the key 90° - once to close the latch and then again to compress the gasket.

The new Program 1000 stainless steel quarter-turn latch from EMKA uses an externally mounted C shaped catch and insert type spanner lock in conformity with RIC for Railway use outside the sealing gasket on enclosures and cabinets. By mounting outside the cabinet frame and outside the gasketing area, panel builders may be confident that the lock installation ensures integrity of the housing as the sealed area is not compromised in any way.

With an extensive range of standard gasket profiles in materials such as EPDM, neoprene, PVC, black nitrate, natural rubber, and silicone, EMKA also adapts to custom designs as engineers often find there can be advantages in customisation. Therefore EMKA have taken the step of adding further investment toward in-house tooling capability for custom profiles to suit specialist enclosures, automotive applications, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, railside housings and similar.

It has been announced by EMKA that the general purpose 1016 self-adhesive gasket is available in fire resistant versions to UL94 VO and 94HB ratings, as an expanded closed cell neoprene in stock strips from three to 80mm thick. It also comes in standard widths from ten up to 80mm, with complete custom capability, such as for sheets and punched shapes.

EMKA 1200 program aluminium windows provide visibility, mounting space and protection when used in conjunction with electrical enclosures or cabinets where instrumentation, push buttons or other control equipment requires secondary visibility, mounting or protection.
