Power management company Eaton has launched SIMAS, a fully integrated IP-based voice, data, WiFi, interlock and automation system for underground industrial applications where rugged and/or explosion proof equipment is required.

There is little doubt that the world is witnessing unprecedented times due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. A vast majority of the world’s population and businesses have been affected in some way, and the global engineering community is no exception. National lockdowns have proven particularly challenging for factories trying to remain operational and ensure deliveries to key customers.

Power management company Eaton has announced an extension to its range of blowout preventer (BOP) hoses, which meet the requirements of the demanding API 16D 2nd Edition drill well specification. The newly released Eaton EC556 BOP hose is a critical part of oil and gas drilling and exploration equipment where reliability and safety are priority customer needs.

Eaton have announced the advancement of its AxisPro industrial valve platform, including new two-stage valve offerings and release of its all new Pro-FX Configure software. The latest capabilities are designed to offer ease of configuration, enriched user flexibility, enhanced reliability and improved diagnostics to a wider range of industrial machinery.  

Eaton has recently announced the launch of a new electrohydraulic cylinder featuring valve integration. The new product comprises a high-performance industrial cylinder, precision feedback transducer and control valve in one package to create a single-source solution which offers significant cost savings over custom assemblies.

Intended for deployment in mobile applications such as compact construction equipment, agricultural vehicles, aerial lift platforms and forestry machines, this hose is also suitable for industrial applications such as hydraulic presses.

Eaton has launched a new VSQ (Vane-Speed-Quiet) pump series designed to provide operators with a minimum speed range of 0-50 RPM to decrease energy usage and improve efficiency in dynamic industrial applications like injection moulding, metal forming, die casting and press brake.

Demonstrating how industrial parts cleaners can use Eaton’s innovative filtration products to increase performance efficiency and safety, the Filtration Division of Eaton will exhibit at the parts2clean 2017 trade show, stand C04 in hall 5, from October 24th-26th in Stuttgart, Germany.

The hydraulic hose portfolio from Eaton has been extended with the introduction of the GH681 hose series, a one-wire braided hose qualified to one million impulse cycles. This hose helps provide mobile machinery customers with durability in harsh environment applications such as compact construction equipment, agricultural vehicles, aerial lift platforms and forestry machines.

The Walterscheid M-R7 has been introduced by Eaton, which is an innovative cutting rind pre-assembly machine that provides customers with improved assembly technology and safety during installation of the Walterscheid system trilogy tube fitting systems with prefabricated tube ends.

A fast and cost effective method for machine and system builders to assemble motor starters in applications requiring multiple motors has been developed by Eaton. The versatile Motor Starter Feeder System (MSFS) includes back-plates with integral three phase bus bars rated at 125A, which are complemented by feed-in terminal blocks and adapter plates for motor protective circuit breakers, motor starter combinations and soft starters.

The Xcel Series Low Speed High Torque Disc Valve motors have been launched by Eaton, and are designed for low and medium duty applications to optimise performance with value and reliability. XL2 and XL4 motors share a three-zone design allowing true bi-directional operation and a case drain facility that improves resistance to pressure spikes and extends seal and motor life. The motor’s easy-to-design-in features and displacements make it a solution for applications with more generic design needs.

The operation and control systems of Eaton have been integrated with the OPC Unified Architecture Standard (OPC UA). This will enable machine and systems builders to communicate with the cloud via individual machine components more easily and safely. As a result, both existing machines and new designs featuring compatible Eaton products can be made IoT-ready and integrated into smart factory environments in a cost effective way. 

Enhancing its range of robust and compact PowerXL DC1 variable speed drives, Eaton has added new torque and motor-speed control functions that enable machine and system builders to access applications involving extreme load fluctuations. The new generation of PowerXL DC1 variable speed drives support all types of highly efficient IE4 motors, including permanent magnet, brushless DC and synchronous reluctance versions.

Intelligent factories and smart energy topped off with market shifts in industry 4.0 are the factors behind companies being challenged to offer the seamless integration of multiple different technologies and disciplines. Within this field Eaton’s complementary electric and hydraulic expertise can bring easier and faster solutions.

At the Hannover Trade Fair, Eaton has signed an agreement with a new ‘Electro Hydraulic Authorised Solution Partner’. As part of the EMEA-wide Eaton network, partner companies have preferred access to Eaton’s Electro-Hydraulic extensive product portfolio and solution’s know-how. Werthenbach Hydraulik-Antriebstechnik actually already collaborates with Eaton as a ‘Hydraulics System Integrator’, and they will expand the partnership with Eaton through this agreement.

Enabling machine and system builders to bring streamlined, modern automation concepts to life, the new XC300 modular PLC from Eaton is useful, especially when combined with the XN300 I/O system and XV300 touch panel. With high performance communication features, the modular controller’s fast cycle times enables higher productivity rates for the machine.

The ESV9 series of proportional solenoid cartridge valves have been introduced by Eaton, which help offer a more cost effective, general-purpose solution when compared to industrial-rated valves. The ESV9 valves are also smaller, reducing the manifold size and cost, and allow increased flexibility during installation.

Delivering a high level of surge protection, Eaton has launched a modular device range designed for easy installation, commissioning and replacement. Eaton’s new MTL SD Modular range provides comprehensive protection from transient surge events up to 20kA, the highest level of protection currently available for a modular pluggable device which is coupled with the highest packing density on the market.
