Altra Industrial Motion

New for SPS this year, Altra Industrial Motion will be displaying its problem-solving products at its Innovation Corner in Hall 3, Stand 270. Focused on delivering operational benefits to operators of motor brakes, leading brand, Warner Electric, will showcase solutions that meet the current and future needs of the market, informed by the challenges faced by users in the field.

A crane may not use its brakes often, but when the need arises, they must be able to operate with the complete reliability. It’s a quality that Stromag, a brand of Altra Industrial Motion, designs into its turnkey crane braking packages. As a result, Stromag braking systems are the solution of choice for several crane OEMs around the world.

Brands of Altra Industrial Motion which include Bauer Gear Motor, Huco Dynatork, Matrix, Stromag, Warner Electric and Warner Linear will be presented at SPS IPC Drives 2018. The stand will showcase the latest technologies and solutions tailored to attain the highest industry standards. Visitors will be able to view the latest products, gain advice from product experts and witness live demonstrations from all brands in Hall 3, Stand 270 from 27th-29th November at Nuremburg Messe, Germany.

To create a reliable, efficient and robust processing line for a hygienic environment that can also operate at -43°C (-45°F) is not a simple task. However, having found a solution that met so many requirements, one major international fish supplier chose to upgrade its conveyor drives to stainless steel variants to improve the mechanical resilience of the system.

The Nkana site of Mopani Copper Mines in Zambia has had parking brakes for use on mine hoists supplied by Twiflex, part of Altra Industrial Motion. Nkana is one of the largest copper and cobalt mines in Africa, with four underground mines, as well as an open pit.

This year’s Stage|Set|Scenery exhibition in Berlin was used by Altra Industrial Motion as an opportunity to promote three of the group’s power transmission brands: Stromag, Bauer Gear Motor and Warner Electric. The brands’ combined expertise allows Altra engineers to design and manufacture bespoke lifting and positioning equipment for stage applications, using high quality components that are designed to integrate for efficient, reliable performance.

At this year’s SPS Italia a number of leading brands from Altra Industrial Motion will be present, showcasing a range of premium power transmission and motion control solutions. Bauer Gear Motor, Huco Dynatork, Matrix International plus Warner Electric and Warner Linear will all be exhibiting at the show, which takes place from 23rd–25th May at the Fiere di Parma, Italy. Visitors will be able to find Altra in pavilion 3, stand G074.

The manufacturer of innovative power transmission components, Stromag will be making a debut appearance at Hannover 2017, as part of the Altra Industrial Motion Corporation. After joining the group in December 2016, Stromag will take the opportunity to display a wide range of high performance brakes, flexible couplings and geared cam limit switches at the exhibition.

A free Virtual Reality (VR) experience is being offered by Altra Industrial Motion to all stand visitors at this year’s HANNOVER MESSE. The mechanical power transmission specialist has launched the ‘Altra Virtual Environments’ app for download to smartphones – everyone who downloads the app prior to the show will be eligible to claim a free pair of VR glasses at the Altra stand. The app delivers an immersive, 360° insight into seven different industrial application environments.

Displaying many of its leading brands at HANNOVER MESSE 2017, Altra Industrial Motion is showcasing a capability to offer premium engineering solutions for virtually any industrial sector. The designer, producer and marketer of mechanical transmission equipment will be available to meet visitors in Hall 25, Stand C11 from the 24th–28th April.

Providing power and precision to a range of industrial applications such as automation and materials handling, servo motors are being incorporated into process machinery that requires the motors and their ancillary components to be compact and reliable. This is especially true for the braking system, which is required to provide a holding force even in the event of power loss. Matrix International offers a solution that provides high torque ratings, almost zero backlash, low power consumption and a design that can be well suited for retro-fitting existing machinery.

  It has been announced by Altra Industrial Motion, that on 30th December 2016 it successfully completed the acquisition of the Stromag business from GKN.

The global exhibition for the production of beverages, BrauBeviale 2016, saw Altra Industrial Motion exhibiting its myriad of solutions for processing in the beverage industry. Some of the Altra brands presented at the exhibition included Bauer Gear Motor, Huco Dynatork and Warner Electric – who each displayed a number of industry specialised products for increasing automated production efficiency.

Over the last 45 years there has been a number of key changes that have taken place within industrial braking technology. This year’s Paris Air show will see many highlights and innovations designed to improve the performance and reliability of the aerospace industry. Altra Industrial Motion has announced the acquisition of Guardian Industries. The acquisition of Guardian is expected to be accretive to earnings in the range of $0.01 to $0.02 per share, excluding any one-time or acquisition related costs, during the 2014 fiscal year. The company has a dedicated workforce of 47 people and had 2013 revenues of $10 million.

Altra Industrial Motion is using the Hannover Messe 2013 as a launch pad for many new innovations across its product portfolio. The company is responsible for many of the world's leading power transmission brands including Bauer Gear Motor, Stieber Clutch, Bibby Transmissions and Huco Dynatork. New products include a world first for IE4 gear motors, innovative coupling hub designs for large shaft diameters and a compact, load-sharing, releasable backstop.
