Scorpion gas generator fits double bill at South West Peninsular Training
Scorpion’s innovative gas powered generator is not only ensuring that all essential equipment at South West Peninsular Training’s new premises in Langport, Somerset will continue to function during a powercut, but is also being used to train the next generation of gas fitters and electricians. Located in a purpose built room in the training centre, the technologically advanced natural gas generator includes a weatherproof and acoustic canopy and a remote start system.
South West Peninsular Training Ltd has been trading since 1995. During this time the training centre has provided training courses for the Gas Industry in addition to courses on oil, water regulations, legionella, energy efficiency, City & Guilds, EAL Electrical, Initial Gas Qualification and Electrical Part P. Recently it has expanded its training courses to include alternative energy such as APHC Solid Fuel, wood burners and solar power.

Having moved into new premises and aware that the centre’s smaller LPG standby power generators were too small to support the building’s growing infrastructure, Bob Clark, Director decided to replace the existing generators with an innovative back-up power system that would not only support its operational facilities but could also be used to train students. Looking for a company that could provide advice, practical support and provide him with a fast response time he selected Scorpion Power Systems as his supplier.

“Scorpion Power Systems is a very professional organisation able to provide a total solutions package”, says Bob Clark. “Their service includes everything from site survey right through to commissioning. All installation was carried out by the company with minimum disruption to staff and students”.

Powered by PSI GM industrial engines, Scorpion’s NG30 three phase generator offers a quieter, cleaner alternative to diesel power generators. The generator is fitted with a number of special features to ensure that they are always ready for use and meet all current regulations. These include an on set battery charger and jacket heater to aid cold starting as well a steel bund to retain any diesel spillage.

Available with engine sizes ranging from 14.7kVA to 132 kVA, the quality PSI GM engines incorporate features to enhance performance and strength. These include a world-class engine sealing system for superior leak protection, composite rock arm cover and front cover to lessen noise and pistons with high silicone content for improved durability and noise reduction.

A recognised specialist for providing generators for life safety equipment, and an ISO 9001:2000 accredited company, Scorpion Power Systems is an integrated power solutions provider. Its product range includes generators, Automatic Mains Failure, comprehensive remote monitoring systems and no-break control panels.

Established in Andover in 1982, Scorpion Power Systems has been at the forefront of producing high technology small, mid-range and large generators ranging from 0.5kVA to 2mVA and multiples thereof for prime power, standby power and CHP applications. Scorpion's customers include major industrial conglomerates, commercial establishments and government organisations.
