A dust extraction system has been developed by Lloyd Instruments for its LR50KPlus (50 kN) twin column universal materials testing machine. The system overcomes problems resulting either from the use of dusty samples or dust and small particulates produced during the testing process. The solution can also be adapted for other twin column material test machines from the Lloyd Instruments range.

For the production of box-type sheet metal components, a new range of folding machines employing electromagnetic rather than conventional mechanical clamping of the sheet has been introduced by Press & Shear, Tamworth, under a sole agency agreement with the South African manufacturer, Electrabrake, a division of Allied Production Industries (Pty).
