A new range of compressed air filter units from Hi-line have been designed with economy and efficiency in mind, for the removal of oil, water, particulates and gaseous aerosols from compressed air systems using a range of high performance filtration elements.

The new PlanarHD air bearing stage from Aerotech features several design enhancements for increased throughput in ultra-high precision step-and-settle and scanning applications such as semiconductor processing and emerging MEMS/Nano technologies. The 500 mm x 500 mm travel stage includes larger air bearing surfaces for significantly improved dynamic characteristics as well as higher power linear servo motors on both axes to deliver an impressive specification that includes a 2 m/sec scan velocity and peak acceleration to 5 g - with a positioning resolution of up to 0.25 nanometres, repeatability to 50 nanometres and accuracy to +/- 300 nanometres.

Atlas Copco Compressors has launched a new oil-water separator which uses an innovative filtration method to treat stable emulsion and prevent bacterial growth in the compressor condensate. The new OSCi separator can also be integrated into the canopy of most* of Atlas Copco’s GA-range of oil-injected screw compressors, conveniently allowing it to be monitored via the compressor’s electronic controller. Additionally, the unit has been inspected and certified to international standards by the Deutsche Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt) enabling operators to ensure they meet the appropriate standards relating to the disposal of oil-injected air compressor condensate.

Chemring Marine Ltd has installed an Intertec explosion-proof smart fluid heater to help reduce process costs at its production facility in Bremerhaven, Germany. The Intertec unit works in series with the company's existing fluid heater system, and is used to boost the temperature of a flushing agent used in the manufacture of marine distress flares, immediately prior to use. The pre-existing single-stage heating system demanded that a relatively large volume of flushing agent was maintained permanently at exactly the right temperature, resulting in very high operational costs.
