Indian partnership agreed to expand overseas

Signing a partnership agreement, UK electric tug specialist MasterMover, and Indian heavy engineering manufacturing company CARMAC Technologies, have agreed to CARMAC Technologies selling MasterMover’s range of electric tugs in India, following a sharp increase in sales leads from the country.

CARMAC manufactures welding equipment, steel management systems as well as material handling systems such as trolleys and trailers. By partnering with a successful company in India, MasterMover will not only be able to target an even greater number of sectors in the country but will complement CARMAC’s existing products.

MasterMover electric tugs are used by a single pedestrian operator to move wheeled loads weighing between 50kg and 120 tonnes. The tugs are used in the aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical and construction sectors and are also used by machinery equipment manufacturers.

MasterMover works with some of India’s largest companies. JCB India has used MasterMover tugs in its factories for over a decade and Premier Fine Linens, Daimler Vehicles, Hyosung T&D use MasterMover’s products in their Indian plants. Manufacturing company Sidel uses MasterMover electric tugs in its Indian factory after the success of the electric tugs in its French factory.

Andy Owen, Managing Director of MasterMover, explained: “Following our success with some of India’s largest companies in the last decade, we have had a huge increase in enquiries from India in the last year.”

Owen added: “The Indian economy is booming and many companies are looking to improve efficiency in their factories, so our new partnership with CARMAC will help us to meet this rise in demand.

“Although labour costs are cheaper in India, there are still benefits to improved efficiency in plants,” continued Owen. “Many Indian companies are now looking overseas for ways to streamline production and reduce non-value added time and our electric tugs are the ideal first step towards a leaner set up.”

The challenges presented by India’s size and the variations of local geography means that MasterMover was previously unable to reach all areas of the country. However, the CARMAC partnership enables MasterMover to connect with CARMAC’s existing distribution network, which extends across India.
