On show will be a range of over twelve dedicated intelligent, problem solving wireless products; from bar code readers to pull switches, location tags, RFID tag readers and keyrings to machine controllers and warning beacons – all of which can easily be integrated into existing systems. Each product is fully networkable and comes with a proven track record of delivering results for customers such as Toyota, Toys R us and Balfour Beatty.
The products are supported by an advanced but ultimately flexible package of integration software tools and systems, developed specifically for the IDC range of wireless network solutions. Once installed the wireless network solutions are robust and easily extendable, they will comfortably co-exists with other Wi-Fi networks, and are self-healing. Encryption and error checking are built-in for high security operation.
One of the most interesting products from the range on show is the new ZB111 hand held mobile wireless bar code reader, the product is designed to take both the cost and complexity out of goods handling and stores inventory management systems. The ZB111 mobile barcode scanner is ideal for cutting costs on goods in/out and inventory management systems, it is designed for any organisation looking for an alternative to the more complex Windows Mobile™ / CE™ handheld terminals.
The design of the ZB111 takes the complexity – and cost - out of the handheld unit and transfers it to a central server, making the system simple to support and upgrade. Easy to use, the ZB111 is provided with a keypad featuring ten keys – which can be individually customised if required – and a display, enabling barcode and interactive messages, commands and prompts to be sent to the central Warehouse Management or Manufacturing Execution server based systems.
The flexibility of IEEE 802.15.4 wireless networking enables the ZB111 to provide secure and robust two- way communications over distances of up to 100m between nodes; with routing over multiple nodes for larger networks and longer distances.
Security and redundancy are provided with encryption and alternative routing of messages in the event of a single node failure. In addition, the ZigBee network is easy to install and extend using routers, and can be used with other products from the range to support applications requiring pull cords, push buttons, tracking, real time monitoring and control, and wireless energy management.
The ZB111 is a key component in IDC’s comprehensive ZB family of ZigBee modules, which includes Ethernet and serial gateways, routers, micro- controller and handheld devices, These devices provide a comprehensive single source for complete wireless solutions, ranging from simple cable elimination to large- scale, site- wide telemetry systems in a distributed control system architecture.
