Eriez Magnetics Welcome Three New Apprentices
Eriez Magnetics Europe Ltd has given three young men from the local community mechanical and electrical apprenticeships. The fantastic opportunity will not only enable the new starters to gain a new set of skills and experience working life, but will also help develop a new generation at Eriez.
Over the next three years the apprentices will spilt their time between college and working alongside experienced members of staff. This will help the apprentices strengthen their knowledge within their particular fields, whilst still gaining hand on experience in a busy working environment.

The electrical apprentice, Nicholas Driscoll will be responsible for all the electrical side of our products. His duties will also include building maintenance and eventually customer service visits. The mechanical apprentices, Evan Griffiths and Andrew Stubbs will gain experience in all aspects for the manufacturing process from fabrication, welding, inspection, stores & despatch and machine shop. They eventually will end up as fully trained skilled employees.

Ensuring that Eriez younger generation receives the highest level of training allows Eriez to be a more effective, productive and competitive organisation, whilst allowing employers to address any skill gaps directly by adopting a framework that is designed specifically to provide appropriate training. Apprentices also provide fresh new outlooks and new talents helping Eriez reach towards new and current customer demands.

Miles Disbrey, Operations Manager at Eriez Europe commented:
‘Over the next few years we have a number of skilled people retiring who are very difficult to replace. Looking ahead we decided offering apprenticeships to local students to over come our shortfall. Working closely with the local college we have three young lads who will be able to continue our success into the future…..I am personally very pleased to have them on board and would like to take this opportunity to welcome them into the Eriez Family’.

The apprentices where chosen through a selection process at their college, Coleg Morgannwg. All 20 chosen applicants then attended interviews at the Eriez Magnetics Europe factory before receiving a tour of the premises.

Tim Shuttleworth, Eriez Magnetics Co’s CEO flew over from America to meet the new additions to the Eriez team. Following the visit 18 year old Evan Griffiths commented:
‘This is a fantastic opportunity and I am so pleased I was lucky enough to be offered the position. It is a great place to work with everyone being so friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to met and be introduced to Mr Shuttleworth when he came to visit, it's not every day you have the chance to meet someone so important like that.’

Eriez wishes the three apprentices the best of luck and looks forward to being a part of developing their future.
