The company faces strong market demand for its unique technical skills and is now expanding to cope. This demand has also led to the recent acquisition of Midlands-based NTC Powertrain, who are specialists in software development for gearbox control.
The new roles in the UK will be created across AVL’s Research and Engineering Departments in Basildon, Essex, and the Midlands.

The Company develops all the powertrain components of modern vehicles, such as the engines and transmissions for conventional vehicles and energy storage and electric motors for hybrid and electric vehicles, while it also optimises the control to get the best performance. AVL was founded in 1948 by Austrian professor, Dr Hans List, initially developing diesel truck engines. Today, led by his son, Professor Helmut List, AVL is working on all areas of powertrain technology which reduce CO2 emissions for the automotive and energy industries.
