Colder Products Company Introduces Easy-to-Use BreakAway™ Coupling

The new BreakAway coupling from Colder Products Company provides safe and easy fluid transfer and protection from costly product loss and equipment damage. While heavy duty industrial versions of break-away couplings exist, there have been few options available for low pressure applications in plastic materials. These high quality, leak-free connectors allow the user to break the connection without depressing a latching mechanism for rapid, automatic disconnection when needed.

“There is an increasing use of personal cooling systems across numerous markets,” according to Andy Hass, director of marketing. “In some applications like automotive racing, a break-away coupling is mandatory. In other applications, it is an added convenience such as cooling vests for police officers, athletes or soldiers who may need to move quickly, and can’t be tethered to a cooling device.”
Colder’s BreakAway couplings are available in acetal with Buna-N o-rings, 316 stainless steel valve springs, and automatic shutoff capabilities. Available in in-line and panel mount styles with 1/4″ and 3/8″ hose barb terminations, the coupling’s maximum pressure rating is 20 psi and the temperature range is 0˚F to 150˚F.
